Closed BLM public lands: Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC)
A GIS layer of Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) that are within public lands managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The GIS layers were used by BLM in the nationwide Geothermal Resources Leasing Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS). Some of the lands are closed to leasing for
geothermal projects. The GIS layer contains .SBX, .XML, .SHX, .DBF
(.XLS), .PRJ, .SBN, and .SHP data. Disclaimer from BLM: This layer contains all ACECs, but not all of these lands are closed to
geothermal leasing. See Appendix C of the PEIS for a list of ACECs and
whether or not they are open or closed. Open/closed information in
Appendix C is not available for AZ, CA, CO, MT, UT, or WA.
