Cooling Degree Days, by State (Weighted by Population, per 2000 Census)
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Services (NESDIS), in conjunction with the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) publish monthly and annual climate data by state for the U.S., including, cooling degree days (total number of days per month and per year). The average values for each state are weighted by population, using 2000 Census data. The base temperature for this dataset is 65 degrees F. Included here are monthly and annual values averaged over several periods of time: 1931-2000, 1931-60, 1941-70, 1951-80, 1961-90, 1971-2000 (standard deviation is also provided). Detailed monthly climatic information (including cooling degree days) is available for the time period between 1895 and 2011, from [NOAA](http://www7.ncdc.noaa.gov/CDO/CDODivisionalSelect.jsp).
