Boulder County Housing Prototype Homes

In November 2009, The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in cooperation with Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) began installing instrumentation in the three prototype homes in order to evaluate the performance of these three homes which incorporate highly insulated shells, efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and renewable energy systems. The Ranch home is a single family detached dwelling that includes a ground floor with basement and no garage. The Ranch home 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1,865sq-ft in floor area and has a total shell area of 4,481sq-ft. The other two prototype homes are single family attached units (Duplex units) that include two main floors, a basement and a single car garage. The Duplex units are 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2,458sq-ft of floor area each and have a total shell area of 4,936sq-ft each
