Wind Resources by Class and Country At 50m

In curation License

These estimates are derived from a composite of high resolution wind resource datasets modeled for specific countries with low resolution data originating from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (United States) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (United States) as processed for use in the IMAGE model.

The high resolution datasets were produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (United States), Risø DTU National Laboratory (Denmark), the National Institute for Space Research (Brazil), and the Canadian Wind Energy Association.

The data represents wind power class intervals 3 through 7 at 50 meters above ground *(onshore wind estimates only)*. Wind class is derived from the capacity factor obtained from the [20 Percent Wind Energy by 2030 table B-10](http://www.20percentwind.org/report/Appendix%20B_Assumptions_Used_for_Wind_Deployment_System_Model.pdf). The range was created from years 2005 and 2010.
